Scrap vehicles

The transfer of a scrap vehicle is the owner’s responsibility

Transfer of scrap vehicles

The vehicle owner, holder and driver are obliged to transfer the vehicle from an accident site without delay and within no more than two days.

The highway authority and the police have their own obligations concerning vehicle transfers.

The environmental unit’s duties mainly include ensuring the transfer of scrap vehicles. For example, the city will only transfer a scrap vehicle from a private yard area or storage area at the justified request of the area holder.

The vehicle owner or holder is liable to compensate the local authority for the vehicle’s transfer arrangements, transfer, storage and any administrative costs. The owner of a private area is liable to compensate any transfer costs resulting from the requested transfer of a vehicle if they cannot be collected from the vehicle owner.
